&ZENID is showing up in category URLS?

Recently I was told that the &zenid should never be in the urls for the links I create. After carefully removing all of these from the existing links I noticed that the auto-generated category urls have the &zenid part of the url in them too. Is this something I should be concerned about, or is this normal?

Here's a url example:

http://www.sextoyteacher.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=6

EDITED: Never post a zenid or session id on a forum, email, newsletter, etc. or you will be doomed ...

Re: &ZENID is showing up in category URLS?

You will see that on first click and on secure pages depending on your configuration ...

If you always see this, then something is setup incorrectly and we will need to look at the problem further ...

Re: &ZENID is showing up in category URLS?

Close all browser windows ...

Clear your cache ...

Clear your cookies ...

I am not see this beyond first click ...

NOTE: I did not check all links to ensure that you do not have the zenid still hard coded on some of these as you had in the past ...

NOTE: if using a bookmark to get to your site, edit the properties and make sure you do not have a zenid attached to it ...

Re: &ZENID is showing up in category URLS?

Went through the steps and now I'm not seeing it anymore. Thanks!

Not that I quite understand though...I clear my cache on an almost daily basis and type in the url when I visit the site. :dontgetit

Either way having you around seems to have helped Linda...so thanks again!

Re: &ZENID is showing up in category URLS?

You are most welcome ...

Sometimes when working on a site and having multiple browser windows open or modifying settings, etc. things become all moofed up and appear to be a royal mess ...

When this happens ... first thing is close all browser windows, clear cache and cookies ... as it is probably your computer experiencing the issue and not the world ...

Re: &ZENID is showing up in category URLS?

Hi,

I am having the same problem. The zen session id remains in the address bar even after I have clicked numerous times through my site. I tried clearing cache, clearing cookies, etc. I even tried rebooting my computer, but it still shows.

I have a fresh install of v1.35 and I don't know what else to do to try to alleviate the problem.

That is not the only problem I am having, though. My zen Admin session ID appends with each new change I try to make and in turn asks me to log in again. Unfortunately, every time I try to edit something, it asks me to log in again so I don't get a chance to edit it. This started happening yesterday and I haven't changed anything yesterday or today for this to happen. I have been trying to find the solution and I am sure it is something simple that I overlooked.

Can someone please help? The site I am referring to is http://www.maggiesgiftbaskets.com for anyone who wants to take a look at it and help me out.

Thanks,
CitronGreen

Re: &ZENID is showing up in category URLS?

Hello All,

Never mind. I found the problem. I had set my options to High Security and the result was that all cookies were blocked and in turn gave me a new session ID each time I changed the page in the admin panel.

It also made the zenid remain in the address bar. When I fixed this error it went back to normal operation.

Thanks

Re: &ZENID is showing up in category URLS?

Turn off the SEO add-on ...

Go to your site with a clean browser ...

Do you now find that you only get the zenid on the first click and secure pages?

Re: &ZENID is showing up in category URLS?

This is happening on one of my carts right now as well but I've determined it had to do with www versus no www. Access the site with https://www.domain.name and there's no id in the url. Access it without the ww and the zenid pops up only in the ezpages sidebox- not the footer or header.

I just ran into it again after changing the fist page back to the original index page from one of the category pages as index.

Any ideas about this? I can't remember if I did something last time to fix.

Hi Ajeh, (tried to edit above but left it too long)

I have just done a little test:-
It appears that the zenid is only visible once someone has logged into the site... UNLESS ...for guests it seems to work fine until they click on a link to the checkout at which time the zenid is visible.
If the guest clicks on categories the zenid is visible.
Visiting the homepage makes the zenid vanish and only re appears if you visit a page that is account dependent, like "my account" page or the checkout.
This is both with and without the SEO Url's on.

any ideas ?

regards

Jamie

I am also having this problem, and so working from what delia has said, I edited the .htaccess file with the code below so that anyone entering the site without the www, will be diverted to the www version. It works perfectly on the front end, only problem is that I can no longer login to admin. Upon trying, it simply refreshes the login page.

I placed this at the end of the .htaccess file. Any ideas why this is stopping login to admin?

RewriteEngine On
rewritecond %{http_host} ^dermacia.com.au
rewriteRule ^(.*) http://www.dermacia.com.au/$1 [R=301,L]

Many thanks!
Andrew

Re: &ZENID is showing up in category URLS?

check your config file for admin and make sure you have it set for www

I believe my situation has something to do with the link manager contribution as these are the only 2 sites I have this mod on.

Thanks for the idea for the htaccess file. Let me know if you find that the admin config file is your present problem.

Thanks Delia, your a genius, as that did fix the problem.

Only thing is I have a new problem with it now.

I am back to the same problem as before with the additional string after the .html and the 404 error, but ONLY in IE7. Firefox is not doing it.

I went back to check the 'Enable SEO URLs?', and its value was blank, which was very strange. I enabled it again, but it still hasn't fixed the problem.

I tried undoing the change in the admin config just to be totally sure, and of course that makes no difference.

Andrew

Re: &ZENID is showing up in category URLS?

I have just upgraded a different clients ZenCart from 1.3.7, to 1.3.8, and the same problem with the additional string being added on. It was working perfectly with 1.3.7...
