Which affiliate manager do you use?

I've installed this one and everything looks great. All the test I've made come up right. I'm not active in their forums but the supports seems great. You should give it a try.

You guys started recommending that affiliate software a week after I dropped $100 on the idevaffiliate. Do you recommend I just consider it a sunk cost and use the jam.jrox.com? Has anyone with experience using both done a side-by-side comparison of them? I'm not so much worried about the money I spent, as I am about using the right affiliate program.

I have Post Affiliate Pro. It integrates easily and is supported (I had iDev but asked for refund - as I couldn't get any support for 2 weeks.)

Post Affiliate Pro does all I need + with latest version it can track affiliates even when cookies are deleted and between browsers:

No, it has classical cookie tracking - as most of the other scripts out there.

I would say JROX is fine,but quite average script. It can do basics most merchants need and it's free. BUT only up to 250 members - and I can't find the price on their website at all - but I've read somewhere on forums that for more than 250 you pay $250(verify this info yourself) - and that's way too much for such script.

250 affiliates is very small amount - but switching affiliate solution is really pain in the ***. And costs a lot.

I have only a few items, and they are listed on static pages. The customer enters their quantities and options and stuff and then clicks submit to submit those items to the cart. The cart itself can continue to keep track of the shopping cart even if the customer goes back to the static pages, but I'm wondering if Post Affiliate can still work with my static pages, too.

Yes, it can. You will need to copy/paste short HTML to those pages. For technical details refer to their documentation - it's all described there - also integration with Zen cart works similar way as for iDev..

Yes it can be a pain - even more so for your affiliates at that point.

Do your homework and pick the one that's best for you from the beginning. There is no "best" in the market as far as features go - each seems to have some that others don't. Other intangible factors to look at include support and reputation.

Also, the market is quite fragmented. There's even some affiliate software vendors without an affiliate programme - go figure :)

Post Affiliate Pro supports tracks with use of Flash cookies, 1st and 3rd party cookies and IP tracking to ensure affiliates are credited with as little "leakage" as possible.

That's right but not an argument - here's why:
Track by IP does not offer reliable tracking because unique IP address is not unique for visitor. It means you can have more people visiting and purchasing on your site with THE SAME IP address. That's why it does cannot be compared with flash tracking.

That is also why you usually have option to set how long should be user tracked by IP - for example 5 hours - to minimize risk of giving affiliate commission for customer he did not refer...

I had also installed Jrox. One downside now though is with the latest version, it is limiting the free version to 50 affiliates from the previous 250.

Considering the prices of some of the other affiliate programs, once we reach 50, I'll go with a different less expensive program than Jrox.

Another challenge with jrox is its inability to be loaded in some servers.
