newsletter confirmation email error

Whenever I try to sign up for a newsletter I get this error when the site tries to send me an email

ERROR: Failed sending email to: "" with subject: "Please confirm <name of store> newsletter subscription" Could not instantiate mail function.

The words <name of store> don't appear, I just put that in to replace the name of the actual store.

Does anyone know the cause of this and how to prevent it?

Re: newsletter confirmation email error

  1. The newsletter issue appears to be a problem with a contribution you've added to your Zen Cart site, and not something that's built-in to Zen Cart.

  2. The actual "mail" error about being unable to instantiate the mail function is a result of the PHP mail() command failing. You have your system configured to use "sendmail" as the mailing method, but since the email address that it's sending is blank, it is unable to start the process of sending when it attempts to talk to the mailserver.

You will have to fix the problem with your addon code.
