need a feww hints for a complex project

Hi,

I'm trying to setup a store where the products are in fact an assembly of parts, i.e. each product has many attributes, but these attributes are more important to explain and display then the product itself.. What would you recommend for example if you would be selling PC's as an assembly of parts, where each part would not be purchased separately but really documented, and where you would have to check that all relevant attributes have been selected?

  1. did anybody have this kind of problem to solve

  2. how can I display images or start coding in that way to add images/text to attributes

A newbe to Zen, moving from OsCommerce to Zen!
Many thanks to all of you, if just have an idea or a hint.

Stéphane

Re: need a feww hints for a complex project

I think Zencart should able to handle your project well. With the powerful attribute controller, you can map images to an attribute and specify your attribute as required attribute so your customer can not add an item to the cart without selecting the required attributes. With the combination of different attribute options like radio button, checkbox, drop-down, and textbox, I think zencart is a good choice for your project. If you want to make some adjustments to the attribute images, you can customize the attribute template.

Ob, before you start your project, I think it is good for you to install a zencart demo and mess around with the attribute controller i order to understand how the attribute controller work. You might feel a little confusing if you have never experience with the zencart attribute controller before. Anyway, if you spend a little bit time with it, it will all seem logic to you. Once you are familiar with the attribute controller, i think you are ready to start your attribute driven shopping cart.
