Main centre colum

Can anyone point me at the right template file that controls the content displayed in the centre colum of the default template?

BtW big time newbie, I'm just starting to get my head round things. :lookaroun

Depending on what you are referencing: there are a couple of things that control main page content.

In the admin > tools > defines page editor > select mainpage in dropdown an thie default content can be changed.
Check the FAQ's ^^^ above and find "Top Ten...." as this covers the rest and more.

Sorry for the confussion, I did not mean just the welcome text. I ment the boxs that are shown in the centre. For example New Products For October, Featured Products, Monthly Specials For October, and so on...

can't find Index Listing in either of those place in 1.3.5

Loook real hard toward the bottom in admin > Configuration > Index Listing
