Still very confused about what files to edit...

You should change these

<br><br><br><br><br><br>

to

<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />

This is for validation purposes.

Why not put your "blog" link with the rest of them for example after "home"

Easy enough to do.

In tpl_header.php just after this line

<li><?php echo '<a href="' . HTTP_SERVER . DIR_WS_CATALOG . '">'; ?><?php echo HEADER_TITLE_CATALOG; ?></a></li>

add

<li><a href="http://www.zulurose.com/wordpress/">BLOG</a></a></li>

Re: Still very confused about what files to edit...

A better way to get your menu seperators is to add the ollowing to your stylesheet.css

#navMain li,#navSupp li {
border-left:2px solid #000
}

#navMain li.firstbar,#navSupp li.firstbar {
display:inline;
border-left:none;

Now in tpl_header.php

change this line as follows:

<li class="firstbar"><?php echo '<a href="' . HTTP_SERVER . DIR_WS_CATALOG . '">'; ?><?php echo HEADER_TITLE_CATALOG; ?></a></li>;

Re: Still very confused about what files to edit...

Hey Clyde,

In regards to the Navigation I've gotten things pretty much the way I want them now.

Now I want to add some sidebar action ;)

But I don't see any particular useful information about creating sidebars.

I would like to list in my sidebar:
* My product catagories
* Paypal Verification / we take credit cards / etc
* a random product Pic / Link and
* a search collection feature.

You have been a tremendous help so far. Do you think you could get me going in this area?

Admin -> Tools -> layout boxes controller

Pick the sideboxes you want to activate.

On/Off
Right/Left

Re: Still very confused about what files to edit...

You should correct the following two lines in your tpl_header.php

<li><a href="http://zulurose.com/eCommerce/index.php?main_page=AboutUs">About Us</a></a></li>
<li><a href="http://zulurose.com/eCommerce/index.php?main_page=contact_us">Contact Us</a></a></li>

Remove the portion highlighted in red from each line.

Re: Still very confused about what files to edit...

Well, we are getting there. Slowly but surely.

Next questions.

  1. Is there a way I can get the top of the left sidebox to be flush with the top centerColumn?

Were do I set the vertical alignment to top?

  1. My headers have some kind of style applied to them that indents them one space. For example.
    Categories
    Cat1
    cat2

Search
[ENTER Search ]

Currencies
[MENU HERE]

I looked at the h1,h2,h3... styles but did not see what was padding(?) them.

Re: Still very confused about what files to edit...

Not sure if this is the problem or not.

It appears that your left column is set narrower than the boxes themselves.

The column is 150px

The boxes are set at 195px

Try adjusting these widths in

admin -> configuration -> layout setting

column width - left boxes
column width - right boxes

column width - left
column width - right

Re: Still very confused about what files to edit...

It was mainly a style sheet issue that was causing the headers to skip a space.

I also tried changing my tpl_main_page.php

<?php
if (COLUMN_LEFT_STATUS == 0 or (CUSTOMERS_APPROVAL == '1' and $_SESSION['customer_id'] == '')) {
  // global disable of column_left
  $flag_disable_left = true;
}
if (!isset($flag_disable_left) || !$flag_disable_left) {
?>

<td id="navColumnOne" class="columnLeft" style="width: <?php echo COLUMN_WIDTH_LEFT; ?>">
	<!-- <td valign="top"> Align to top -->
<?php
/**
  * prepares and displays left column sideboxes
  *
  */
?>

td valign="top" worked on the main page.
but as you went into the site, the main column got shortened and the left-column became unusually wide. So I commented that section of the code out.
Not sure why it was acting wierd.

If I could get that column to act right, I'd be finished with most navigation issues.

Re: Still very confused about what files to edit...

check your stylesheet.css for the following:

#contentColumnMain,#navColumnOne,#navColumnTwo,.centerBoxContents,.specialsListBoxContents,.categoryListBoxContents,.additionalImages,.centerBoxContentsSpecials,.centerBoxContentsAlsoPurch,.centerBoxContentsFeatured,.centerBoxContentsNew,.alert {
vertical-align:top;
}

This should control the vertical alignment.

I'd also uncomment your edit in tpl_main_page.php

Re: Still very confused about what files to edit...

This is what that particular section of tpl_main_page.php looks like

<table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" id="contentMainWrapper">
  <tr>
<?php
if (COLUMN_LEFT_STATUS == 0 or (CUSTOMERS_APPROVAL == '1' and $_SESSION['customer_id'] == '')) {
  // global disable of column_left
  $flag_disable_left = true;
}
if (!isset($flag_disable_left) || !$flag_disable_left) {
?>

<td id="navColumnOne" class="columnLeft" style="width: <?php echo COLUMN_WIDTH_LEFT; ?>">
<?php
/**
  * prepares and displays left column sideboxes
  *
  */
?>
<div id="navColumnOneWrapper" style="width: <?php echo BOX_WIDTH_LEFT; ?>"><?php require(DIR_WS_MODULES . zen_get_module_directory('column_left.php')); ?></div></td>
<?php
}
?>
    <td valign="top">
<!-- bof  breadcrumb -->

Re: Still very confused about what files to edit...

Hmm..
Funny thing, I changed one style in the CSS file, and then all of a sudden a whole new style got applied to that region. So I tweaked that style and now everything seems to be ok! WOW WOW:smartass: I'm learning

This is also interesting too.

Why are the Next | Listing | Prev buttons not spaced apart. Shouldn't these be at the edges of the center column, not centered in the middle?
