State Providence drop down issues US or Canada?

when I set the create Account default Country ID to United States all i get on the address details page for customer account creation is states.
When I set it to canada all I get are Providences
When I set it to none all I get it a text field to be filled in.
How do I get states and providences to be in the drop down???????

What your asking is in effect "can I have two default countries" to which the short answer is no. A slightly more considered answer is yes, but ...

To achieve this you would need to delete the United States and Canada from your database and add a new country in their place called United States & Canada or North America or something that you feel would be politically acceptable to your customers - you would then add all the states and provinces to this new country and set it as the default.

Hmmm could I put that on a wish list :yes:
