Not Sure I'm in The Right Forum, Processor Question

This isn't really a question specific to zen cart, but hopefully you can help me. I've just downloaded and installed for the first time, seems just wonderful...... I have a client who wants to use it... he has a retail store and already has a regular merchant account with his bank.... what do i need to do to get him ready to bill on the web.... i know this is a dumb question and I appreciate ALL answers.

thank you.

Since you say client already has an online store + a merchant account with their bank, I would start by searching what the client is using now. Authorize.net and PayPal are included with ZC. In the Downloads/Contributions section there are many additional payment gateways. You can also search this forum for a match. If you don't find the same, talk with bank to see if they offer alternates. Otherwise it may require creating a custom API solution.

Re: Not Sure I'm in The Right Forum, Processor Question

Maureen,

To process payments on the web, a merchant needs:

  1. An online merchant account at his bank (not the same as a regular merchant account, usually)
  2. A contract with a payment gateway, who provides the link to his bank. Authorize.net is an example of such a service.

PayPal can provide a complete solution, if you make your bank account available to PayPal.

Hope this helps fill in the gaps. You can research this on the web, too.
