Admin page not showing

Hi.

I,m sure that this may have cropped up before but I can find no specific posting on forum.

Install was fine and shop is working perfectly, thank you for a good design.

However I cannot access admin page, headers are showing the following:

Warning: session_start(): Cannot send session cookie - headers already sent by (output started at /home/xxxxxxxx/xxxxxxxxxxx/xxxxx/htdocs/admin/index.php:1) in /home/xxxxxxxx/xxxxxxxxxxx/xxxxx/htdocs/includes/functions/sessions.php on line 102

Warning: session_start(): Cannot send session cache limiter - headers already sent (output started at /home/xxxxxxxx/xxxxxxxxxxx/xxxxx/htdocs/admin/index.php:1) in /home/xxxxxxxx/xxxxxxxxxxx/xxxxx/htdocs/includes/functions/sessions.php on line 102

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/xxxxxxxx/xxxxxxxxxxx/xxxxx/htdocs/admin/index.php:1) in /home/xxxxxxxx/xxxxxxxxxxx/xxxxx/htdocs/admin/includes/init_includes/init_templates.php on line 36

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/xxxxxxxx/xxxxxxxxxxx/xxxxx/htdocs/admin/index.php:1) in /home/xxxxxxxx/xxxxxxxxxxx/xxxxx/htdocs/admin/includes/functions/general.php on line 34

I understand that the header information could be caused by spaces on the php pages but what about the cookie and the cache problems?

It may help you to know that the only way that I can get a lot of scripts to work is to remove .htaccess, less secure I know but needs must!

globals on / off seem to be the only problem and yes I could get my hosting company to change settings but I would have to do that with all my websites, at present over 100!

Would this affect admin access, if so is there a workaround or can I just not use Zencart? That would be a shame!

Re: Admin page not showing

If this is a fresh install (1.3.5?) and works fine for the public side and only problems on the Admin side, I would say the problem was with the install. More information would be needed.

  • was this a manual install or a 'one-click' install (Fantastico, AutoInstaller, Installatron)
  • have the settings in the Admin config file been checked
  • are file/dir. permssions correct

Also, if v1.3.5 is being used and TMK, doesn't matter if globals is on or off as ZC works both ways. Can you be specific as whether globals are on or off, with your Hoster?

Re: Admin page not showing

Fresh install.
1.3.5
Public side is great.
What admin side??
I've re-uploaded and installed this three times, all the files are there and permissions set.

Manual install.

A question about admin/includes/config.php

define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://platinum.datingchoices.co.uk');
define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://platinum.datingchoices.co.uk');
define('HTTP_CATALOG_SERVER', 'http://platinum.datingchoices.co.uk');
define('HTTPS_CATALOG_SERVER', 'https://platinum.datingchoices.co.uk');

I'm not using secure server, should https settings be there?

Apart from this all defines seem to be pointing to the correct folders and SQL details are correct and workng ['cause the shop works fine with same info].

Globals are on.

Re: Admin page not showing

output started at /home/xxxxxxxx/xxxxxxxxxxx/xxxxx/htdocs/admin/index.php:1

Check and see if you have space(s) or blank line(s) before the <?php in this file ... php doesn't like those ...

Re: Admin page not showing

This is the Admin side: http://platinum.datingchoices.co.uk/admin/

It's not working because the path specified is not working.
Check the following your 'admin/includes/configure.php' file.

// Use secure webserver for catalog module and/or admin areas?
define('ENABLE_SSL_CATALOG', 'false');
define('ENABLE_SSL_ADMIN', 'false');

define('DIR_WS_ADMIN', '/admin/'); << this must show the correct path

Re: Admin page not showing

:yes: output started at /home/xxxxxxxx/xxxxxxxxxxx/xxxxx/htdocs/admin/index.php:1
I can't find index.php:1, just index.php, But,

:yes: Check and see if you have space(s) or blank line(s) before the <?php in this file ... php doesn't like those ...

OK. I found a square just before <?php which I have removed, no change.

:yes: define('ENABLE_SSL_CATALOG', 'false');
define('ENABLE_SSL_ADMIN', 'false');

Yes, but what I also have is.
define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_ADMIN', '/admin/');
define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/');

:yes: define('DIR_WS_ADMIN', '/admin/'); << this must show the correct path

If this is the default installation path then this is where it's at!

Re: Admin page not showing

Further: [ignore last]

I have put full path into define('DIR_WS_ADMIN', '/admin/'); but still the same results.

I can't figure it out, it's got to be something stupid!

I cleaned out the server, re-downloaded from Source Forge just in case I got a corrupted copy, even from a different mirror, uploaded, re-installed, set permissions and still same problem.

It will be interesting to find out if it is just my hosting, because other people are going to run across this and a slight mod to script will be the order?

In fact that has given me an idea, I'll install on another hosting company that I use and let you know soonest.

Re: Admin page not showing

Well, that's it then!

All down to that particular server space.

I installed on another domain and it's all working properly first time.

Images would not show up however if I left .htaccess files in place!

Thank you all for your help.

Re: Admin page not showing

Thanks for the update that the server was causing the issues and that this runs fine on another server properly configured ... :smile:

Re: Admin page not showing

:wacko: I am having the same problem. May I ask if it was a yahoo server you had the problem with. If not can any one give me any other ideas on what to try? I can also get the store to show in public but can't get in my admin. I have tried every thing that has been posted here and in all the other post I could find.

Re: Admin page not showing

Hi.

In fact no, it is with a company called Streamline.net an English hosting company.

Seems to be a little problem they have come across before as they are in the process of reviewing their servers.

They are transferring one of my domains across to a new server to see if that will cure the problem.

I'll keep you all updated on progress.

Have you an URL to your site that we can peek at?

Does your Catalog break if you hit the Login link or any other secure page link?

Re: Admin page not showing

I'd start by reloading the /admin directory and all files and subdirectories ...

Also check your /admin/includes/configure.php that it is configured correctly for your site ...

Re: Admin page not showing

I'm having this same problem. It was a manual install of V1.3.6. I installed once, and was able to access the admin area. Then for several reasons uninstalled. I reinstalled 3 times today with the same results. The original good install and the new faulty one were both on the same server.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

Melissa

Re: Admin page not showing

Check the file on the server for:
/public_html/store/admin/includes/configure.php

Do you have "something" space(s), blank lines, text, etc. before the start of the:

<?php

which should be on line 1 ...

Re: Admin page not showing

The admin/includes/configure.php does not have any extra spaces or lines before the <?php . I can access the admin/login.php page by typing in the full url. The error message in the original post appears above the administrator username and password boxes. However, when I click login, it goes to a page that simply displays the error message in the original post. My error log is not showing any errors for that last attempt. At least not yet. Here is a message from my error log from an attempt earlier today.

Re: Admin page not showing

The error says:> headers already sent by (output started at /home/sbred26/public_html/store/admin/includes/configure.php:1
That means that on Line #1 of /store/admin/includes/configure.php there is at least one line or space before the starting <?php code.

Are you sure you looked at the right file?

What FTP program are you using? Some add blank lines by trying to translate line-endings if they transfer files in non-ASCII mode for PHP files.

What file-editor are you using?

Re: Admin page not showing

I'm using filezilla as my ftp program and notepad++ as my editor. I'll double check again, but I'm pretty sure it was the admin/includes/configure.php file.
Thanks,
