How to show all products on the main page?

I was reading some of these old entries.

Iam having the same problem. I have set the Layout Settings > Main page opens with Category> at 71 which is the ID# of the category I want to have the page open with .... but no action.

Any suggestions

Re: How to show all products on the main page?

You have 1 product in that category and you have the Skip Product Listing on Categories with 1 Product turned on so it switches to the product _info page ...

Re: How to show all products on the main page?

I have an entirely different problem, but it seems this thread is as good as I'm going to get to searching for answers. I'm using 1.3.9

I'm trying to create a "quick links" section to the footer of my site, to add some SEO goodness to our products, and came close by modifying a version of the tpl_all_products files, but I can't seem to get it to do what I want.

http://opticalnow.ca

I use four manufacturer based top level categories, with sub categories containing products (sorting by manufacturer won't do). As well, there is a category I would like to omit from the quick links.

So, I'd like to use a 4 row table to echo out the directory structure in the same order it's in in the navigation tabs, but including all of the product names (no photos or info).

This would be a useful mod for zencart, as it gives you more keyword density in body text and links, and is generally useful in this situation... Unfortunately, my cut and paste php skills aren't quite ready for this one.... Any godly zenners like to help? Perhaps something like this has been done, but I haven't found it....
