Min/Unit Mix not working for products priced by attributes

I have a similar issue here hoping someone can help me solve. I have a given Product that has 3 choices the user can select via dropdown....Single, Double, Triple. I would like for if the user chooses a "Single" that they must order a mimum quantity of 3. If they choose Double or Triple then they can order a quantity of just 1. Is there any way to do this?

This is not a built in feature of Zen Cart ...

The Minimum, Maximum and Units are designed on a per Product basis with an option of Mixed Attributes or Not Mixed Attributes making these amounts up ...

You would need quite a bit of customizing to control this at the attribute level ...

I have tried to fix the bug by editing the php file.
Suggestion: would it be better to put it in the original installation file?
