New Products For <Month> restricted to one category

Hi All,

I currently have a simple category structure with only 2 categories in my shop.

The first category contains all my products for sale. The second category is essentially a showcase where nothing is availble for purchase.

Is there anyway to restrict the what is displayed in the New Products for <Month> section to only those products in my first category???

You could custom code all the selects related to New Products ...

Or, you could change the products_date_added in the products table to older than your New Products Limit setting in the Configuration ... Maximum Values ...

Decided to do away with the New Products section and rely on manually adding products to the Featured Products section and have only that.

Any idea where I should look for the selects? I'm trying to only show certain categories in the New Products center box.
