Does/Can Google Spider Disabled Pages?

I think the answer to this is NO, but I just want to check…

I know Google gives a higher pagerank to sites that are updated on a regular basis (i.e. actively maintained ones) , so while I am waiting for my site to appear on Google, I am planning on adding (complete) pages but disabling them through admin. All I have to do then is turn a page on every few days (when i'm listed), so Google thinks I am updating/adding new content.

Does Google spider pages that are disabled? Or can anyone see a reason why the above wont work?

Do not worry about PR in that little green toolbar. A lot of sites rate in the top 10 that have no PR.

A word of advice if you want your pages indexed quicker, get adsense and put the code for side banners in your site. We found out that by having adsense on a site gets it indexed quicker.

From what I've observed, Google does attempt to spider disabled and deleted pages or products, resulting in 404 web crawler errors. Apparently it can take some time for these errors to disappear, sometimes many months. This might not be good for page rank and search engine optimisation, but it seems based on advice I've seen on this forum, there's not a huge amount that can be done about it, however my advice from SEO people is that they can optimise ZenCart better for SEO.

Thus it does seem there are means and ways that they can deal with this problem. Most web developers I've spoken to reiterate similar views about ZenCart SEO issues. One suggested I try another product, though I guess they would if that's what they support. Apparently these types of issues are not unusual with this type of technology where there are dynamically generated links.

I've got a few ideas that I might try, so I will keep you posted.
