Re: How do I set-up Product Downloads

Here is an example, maybe i am just not understanding how to set it up. but it gives this window, only lets me download from if I select a file from the browse butting and then nothing downloads.

here is a link to the item: http://shopargus.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=43&products_id=113

The website is in test mode right now... no CC processor is linked to it.

Any help would be greatly appreicated.

Re: How do I set-up Product Downloads

You don't want "file" as the type... that's for uploading files.

Use a radio button or pulldown.

You'll link files to the radio/pulldown option-name separately using the Attributes Controller.

Here's another post with links to follow:

Re: How do I set-up Product Downloads

option name manager:
option name = download
option type = radio button

Option Value manager:
choose the "download" option name from the dropdown and then type "zip file" in the option value text box, then hit insert

Attributes controller:
Select category, then select product. Under adding new attribute select the correct option name and value from the drop downs. Then in the attributes flag section change "Default Attribute to be Marked Selected:" to yes and leave the others alone. Next step is to input the filename of the download and set the expiry days and maximum download count. (Note: you should have already uploaded the file to the downloads directory.) Hit insert.

Then go to the downloads manager if the file is list there with the little green circle under filename then everything should work.

Re: How do I set-up Product Downloads

where is Linda when you need her? How large is the file? If you replace the file with another named the same but smaller does it work? I am assuming the file is a .zip file right.

Re: How do I set-up Product Downloads

Are you hosting on Windows or Linux?
Do you have "Download by redirect" enabled or disabled?
Do you have "download by streaming" enabled or disabled?

Re: How do I set-up Product Downloads

Found a problem after you set my test order to delivered I had never got the download link, so I tried it again but took my time and checked everything twice and I found the problem. The first time I tried it I did not click the radio button for the download but I did the second time and it worked perfectly. So as was suggested earlier in this thread set the attribute for the download as the default and the radio button will already be selected. Since you only have one attribute on the product this will keep the stupid people from missing it and wondering why they can't get the download

Re: How do I set-up Product Downloads

After reading this thread and looking for more info on the problem mentioned at: http://shopargus.com/ - I happened to see the Header does not work well in Mozilla or Opera. And no matter what Browser used, the blue links on a black background does work well.
