product info: a two-column layout with Main/addt'l image and prod. description?

I'm trying to get a two column layout with the main/additional images on the left, and the product description on the right. I'm looking around stylesheet.css and the product_info tpl file but can't seem to get the desired result.

I tried searching the forums for a similar thread but could not find one.

Is there a somewhat easy way to do this? I made a crude drawing of what I'm looking for:

This would have to be implemented into the cart, through a customized template or mod.
