Products - Additional Form Fields

Hey all,

Here is a good one for you. I would like to make a series of products searchable by season.

Is it worth adding a new database field in the products table or can this be managed from the attributes function.

Why not configure an advanced search page to search limited to a default seasonal category? If you look in advanced search, you'll see that you can restrict your search to a certain category or subcat. You should be able to set this so that when a search is conducted through a special seach box, it will only look in the cat or subcat that you have specified.

I finally got around it by setting an attribute as a season then joining the sql query

the page it was for was not part of zencart itself and had to be custom built piggy backing off the zencart database

I am interested in the season attribute. For instance, Mother's Day is coming up.I would like a link to products that pertain to Mom items. But, products are still available rest of year. I really do not want to create a Mother's Day category. How did you do it? Can you provide link to your site? My site is all zencart 1.3.8a.
