UGH! Now can't access site!

I resolved my earlier issue posted of not being able to access the admin on my site. But now I have more headaches! As my other post stated, everything worked fine last night, went to bed, woke up and my host's server crashed. They claim they have fixed the issues however since then I have had problems accessing parts of the admin such as the developer's tool box. I received an error stating some unexpected parse error on line 691. I wrote to tech support of my host again. They claim I need a professional web developer's help because my files are corrupted. How can this be? They worked fine BEFORE the crash!

So I copied the original admin files back over my existing files. This seems to have resolved my admin issues. I can now access the developers tool box and other things that I couldn't before. But now I can't access my site! I receive this 500 Internal error:

<<Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. >>

Do I need to change something within my admin/configuration.php file again? Someone please help me......I've been wrestling with this since I woke up and didnt' expect to have so many problems considering when I went to bed last night I only had 1 minor thing to fix and my site would have been completely upgraded, customizations and all. Is it possible when the server crashed it did some damage along the way?

Re: UGH! Now can't access site!

Did you also re-upload your main files, specifically your config.php file?

Although a work around can probably be provided, the big question is about your Hoster. A Server crash can result from many things and once back online, many things need to be rechecked by the Hoster. And they should have been able to provide you with a recent backup from before the Server crash, making things as they were.

Yes that is entirely possible and the reason for making and keeping backups after making any changes to your site.

Check your config files and make sure all of the information is correct in both of them.

includes/configure.php

admin/includes/configure.php

Re: UGH! Now can't access site!

The config file was wrong, had the original info in it that my host had set up in the very beginning. Funny, I never changed that file though. Anyway, I reset it to point to the correct db, username, pw and I can now access my site. However, it somehow got a bit funky on the way up.....the text appears to be very very large now! I checked my page settings and they are set to view on "medium" and compared the live site and it views fine with the same settings set at medium. However, my test site is very very large now. Could you take a look and let me know how it looks to you?
http://www.whipperscrapper. net/Test (drop the /Test to view the live site if you wish to compare) Oh, and yes I have some error messages appearing on top indicating it can't find my tabbed lite files. That's ok, I haven't imported those over yet.

This is really starting to be a major headache for me. I get one thing fixed and then something else breaks. And what gets me even more upset is knowing it all worked well before the server crashed and yet they are saying it's something on my end!

Re: UGH! Now can't access site!

Guess you are currently working on the site as I only see a temporary Index page.

"Welcome to the temporary site of:
www.whipperscrapper.com"

Did you ask your Hoster about providing a previous backup?

Ok, now we know what file is missing. Use your FTP program to upload it.

Re: UGH! Now can't access site!

I tried your suggestion Mike unfortunately it still appears to be the same on my end. Too big of font and not centered on the site.

Horicon huh? Small world, I'm in Fond du Lac!

Re: UGH! Now can't access site!

Oh my goodness Website Rob that solved it! I guess I'm not understanding what that contrib would have to do with messing up the layout/font but as long as it works I guess I won't worry too much about it.

Thank you to everyone for all your help. Perhaps now I can get going on this and finish it once and for all!

Re: UGH! Now can't access site!

Cool I drive through Fond du Lac all the time. I would fix the problem that Rob mention, your tabbed products lite mod is not completely installed on the test site based on the errors and the fact that the tabbed products stylesheet is not loading
