Shipping To Be Determined

Is the a way to make a shipping module that would post the phrase "Shipping to be determined" or "TBD". I import products from China and can't give my customer a shipping price until they have told me what they want. The shipping rates from China are always changing because of vat taxes and fuel surcharges so I hope this can be done easily. Thanks

Re: Shipping To Be Determined

Hi guys,
I actually ended up turning the "flat" shipping rate into the TBD shipping. It is working well. I just went into the php pages and made changes to the verbiage to reflect the TBD.
Yipee!!!

Re: Shipping To Be Determined

Hi Boots,
I can tell you how, but I need to retrace my steps and probably won't get to that until tomorrow. Also, after I post my "how to", I want an expert to give their blessing because I did make changes to the php coding and of course that has to be saved in your custom folder.

And, I am a real newbie!!!

Until tomorrow!

Re: Shipping To Be Determined

Okay, here goes...

The file I changed was the "flat" because I knew we would not be using it. The file is located at

includes/languages/english/modules/shipping/flat.php
The lines I changed were:

define('MODULE_SHIPPING_FLAT_TEXT_TITLE', 'Shipping TBD');

define('MODULE_SHIPPING_FLAT_TEXT_DESCRIPTION', 'Shipping TBD');

I changed the text in red.

Then save in **includes/languages/english/modules/shipping/custom/flat.php

**I also did the same thing for a payment module where I used the "cod" and changed the text to reflect a "net 30 account".

Please professional zenners - if the instructions I gave are not proper, please provide input.

Love to all!

Re: Shipping To Be Determined

First you should create the custom template which is explained really well here:

https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=142

The override article here is also very helpful:

https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=143

If you follow these articles, you will already have the custom folders you need without having to create them as you need them. Except for the main folders, I have been creating them as I go (bad beo, bad, bad).

I normally create the custom folder in the area I need (if I haven't already done so), copy and paste the page I will be working on (like flat.php) into the new "custom" folder, open that page, and then make the changes. Then I upload to the server.

Of course you don't have to call your template "custom". You could call it "mint_julep", but I find "custom" works well for me.

The main thing I have found with the custom template is to take my time and follow the steps one by one. So far I haven't had any problems.

Good Luck and God Speed!
