Products Price Net vs Gross

I saw some other discussions touching on this, but not quite what I need.

I sell greeting cards with a retail price of 3.25. They are taxable at 14% (near here), 6% elsewhere in Canada, and 0% outside of Canada. Zones have been set up carefully, following instructions found here.

When I set up a new product, I enter 3.25 in the Products Price (Net) field and the value 3.9 auto-magically shows up in the Products Price (Gross) field. Whether you multiply 3.25 by 1.14 or 1.06, you won't get 3.9. The proper amount (if this is supposed to be a preview of the tax-in amount) would be 3.71 or 3.45. So what is doing the calculation to yield 3.9?

Strangely, this 3.9 thing seems to have no effect on checkout. The correct amount of tax is being calculated there. So I could just ignore it. But I'm the sort of person who can't do that!!

Thanks

Rob

Re: Products Price Net vs Gross

This is a known issues with multiple tax rates ...

Currently it adds them up and spits out the amount ...

This is great if all defined taxes are meant for one place but when mixed taxes exist this is currently meaningless ...

Are the taxes working properly on the shop?

Re: Products Price Net vs Gross

Oh, thaaaaat's what it's doing. (14% + 6%) * 3.25 = 3.9

At any rate, it seems as if taxes are working correctly during checkout -- so far. It's pretty early in my development of the site, so I've only tried it from one of the 3 zones.

Thanks for the checking!

We do hope to have a better solution on that Gross/Net in a future release ...

Re: Products Price Net vs Gross

  • I set up this for a single product:
    net price 2.7273
    gross price 3
    tax 10%

  • In the preview page, it displays $3.58. I think I only have the Florida tax & I change it to 10%

I don't get it......

Re: Products Price Net vs Gross

Check your Currencies ...

What is the Default Currency?

How is it configured?

Is it marked as the default?

Is its value 1?
