Product stock with Atributes don't match real inventory!

Hi,

I am selling clothes online.

I am trying to figure out how ZenCart can keep an accurate stock on products that has a different size attribute.

Here are two solutions that don't seem to make sense to me

**1) A seperate product image for each size.
**12 Small Blue Tees
12 Medium Blue Tees
12 Large Blue Tees.

Problem: **this method creates a seperate catalog image for each product! CLUMSY! If I have 20 products in 4 different sizes, that is 80 entries in my catalog!

2) One product image with 3 size attributes
36 Blue Tees @ 12 each size.

Problem1:** If user buys 10 small, and 2 large Blue Tees, Zen Cart would be out of stock! But I still have 24 items un-accounted for!

Problem2:** If ZenCart stock is set at 36, a user might try and buy 25 Small Blue Tees, but there are only 12 Small Blue Tees at my location.

Can can I have 1 product image, that keeps an accurate inventory for different attributes?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The stock Zen Cart functionality doesn't calculate attribute stock.

There is an addon in the Downloads section, but I do not know how accurate it is.

I think I might have to try this particular plug-in.
I wonder if anyone has had any luck with it before I install it, I'd like some feedback.

I need to do the same thing myself. I tried the addon but I had to remove it as it gave me an error.

Unless we can have accurate inventory control for attributes for different sizes/color this feature is absolutely useless.

If anyone has managed it, any info will be greatly appreciated.

I don't think that particular plug-in is very secure.Each version from 4.1 onwards has incorporated the latest security updates in Zen Cart available at the time of release. There are no known security problems in the current version. If you've found one, please share the information.

Do you have any other suggestions for a work around?No. There is only one add-on offering support in this extremely complex area, and although it doesn't offer everything that some store owners would like, it seems to being doing the job you described above very competently for a great many.

As you've given no information here and not posted in the support thread it's difficult to say why that might be, but to date the most common reason for installation problems has been a mismatch between versions of Zen Cart and versions of the add-on.

Hi,
I am looking for the same thing, in my situation I plan to sell keyrings of different shapes along with other things. Consider this example:
Square keyrings
round keyrings
rectangle keyrings

I will have 1 sub category for photo keyrings and another subcategory for design keyrings. In those sub categories there will be a product for each shape keyring.

If I have 20 square keyrings in stock I need both square keyring products to show stock of 20. If someone buys 1 square photo keyring, the stock level for square photo keyring AND square design keyring will both drop to 19.

It seems to me that the way to do this is to have a database table for inventory and instead of each products having it's own stock level each product gets it's stock level from a specific row of the inventory table.

However doing that is not something I can do, I am not very good with coding.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of what I might need to change. I know how to add the database table I just need a lookup code.

I hope all that makes sense and hope someone can help with this.
