Zen 1.3.6 and fckeditor

I have done a clean install of 1.3.6 and then installed the fckeditor. I created a category and put a product in it. I then tried to edit the meta tags for that product. Comes up with Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: fckeditor in ///public_html/store/admin/categories.php on line **849

Any ideas ?
** Should I post it as a bug ?

Re: Zen 1.3.6 and fckeditor

I'm also getting this error when trying to set meta tags on categories but it seems to work fine for individual products.

Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: fckeditor in /home/*********/public_html/store/admin/categories.php on line 849

Anyone got any ideas...

Re: Zen 1.3.6 and fckeditor

I would switch the editor off before editting any meta tags. But it indeed looks like a bug (got the same error here, on an updated to 1.3.6 cart).

Re: Zen 1.3.6 and fckeditor

I tried switching FCKeditor to the HTMLAREA editor and then "none" under Admin > Config > My store and I was still getting the error and wasn't able to edit meta tags on the category pages. I finally had to change it to HTML area in the define pages editor in order for it to work.

Re: Zen 1.3.6 and fckeditor

I noticed if in Configure - shop fckeditor is turned off (select none for editor) then go to the category that you want to edit the meta tags. Select the test editor "plain text" as well before clicking on the meta icon. This way it works.

If I want to use the fckeditor for my category description, I just select editor "fckeditor" and then the edit icon for the category.

I hope this is not too confusing. :)

Re: Zen 1.3.6 and fckeditor

I am using 1.3.7 and noticed this as well. To fix this you can also replace the for loop around line 849 in admin/categories.php with this. This will just use the standard HTML editor for all meta tags, so you don't have to switch editors manually to edit the tags.

for ($i = 0, $n = sizeof($languages); $i < $n; $i++) {
$category_inputs_string_metatags_description .= '<br />' . zen_image(DIR_WS_CATALOG_LANGUAGES . $languages[$i]['directory'] . '/images/' . $languages[$i]['image'], $languages[$i]['name']) . ' ' ;
/gpg mod, unable to load fckeditor here. Could fix this, but why enable fckeditor here, for meta tags we don't need
any special HTML editor
/
/* if ($_SESSION['html_editor_preference_status']=='FCKEDITOR') {
$oFCKeditor = new FCKeditor('metatags_description[' . $languages[$i]['id'] . ']') ;
$oFCKeditor->Value = zen_get_category_metatags_description($cInfo->categories_id, $languages[$i]['id']);
$oFCKeditor->Width = '97%' ;
$oFCKeditor->Height = '200' ;
// $oFCKeditor->Config['ToolbarLocation'] = 'Out:xToolbar' ;
// $oFCKeditor->Create() ;
$output = $oFCKeditor->CreateHtml() ;
$category_inputs_string_metatags_description .= '<br />' . $output;
// $category_inputs_string_metatags_description .= '<IFRAME src= "' . DIR_WS_CATALOG . 'FCKeditor/fckeditor.html?FieldName=metatags_description[' . $languages[$i]['id'] . ']&Upload=false&Browse=false&Toolbar=Short" width="97%" height="200" frameborder="no" scrolling="yes"></IFRAME>';
// $category_inputs_string_metatags_description .= '<INPUT type="hidden" name="metatags_description[' . $languages[$i]['id'] . ']" ' . 'value=' . "'" . zen_get_category_metatags_description($cInfo->categories_id, $languages[$i]['id']) . "'>";
} else {/
$category_inputs_string_metatags_description .= zen_draw_textarea_field('metatags_description[' . $languages[$i]['id'] . ']', 'soft', '100%', '20', zen_get_category_metatags_description($cInfo->categories_id, $languages[$i]['id']));
/
}*/
}

Re: Zen 1.3.6 and fckeditor

The fatal error is caused by this abomination round about line 550

<?php if ($action != 'edit_category_meta_tags') { // bof: categories meta tags ?> <?php if ($editor_handler != '') include ($editor_handler); ?> <?php } // meta tags disable editor eof: categories meta tags?>

which with intertwined comments seems to be saying:

If the action is not edit the meta tags, then include the editor handler.

Changing that to

<?php if ($editor_handler != '') include ($editor_handler); ?>

certainly gets rid of the error and allows FckEditor to appear, though whether it is the desired result, I'm not sure.

Re: Zen 1.3.6 and fckeditor

It means that it has not loaded the editor handler, and therefore does not know about a thing called an FckEditor object. Either FckEditor is not installed properly, or not selected, file permissions, could be a lot of things.
My 'fix' above was on version 1.3.7, but as I stressed in the post, this got rid of the error, but I do not know if the subsequent behaviour is the desired behaviour. I don't use this - editing Meta-Tags - at all, so I have no idea what it should look like or how it should behave if working 'correctly'.
I would suggest you try mydanilo's suggestion in post #7
