Update w/o too much alterations possible?

hello.

currently i own the site Kid Nemo Company https://www.kidnemo.com

i was having some troubles w/ the 1.3.5 and looks liek the problems will be solved w/ 1.3.6 update...

my problem is that if i update 1.3.6.. will it delete my current customizations?

i am clueless when it comes down to coding and html and it took me awhile to get the site the way it is...

it will kill me to have to start back at square one...

is there anyway to get around this and still update to 1.3.6?

also... if possible... can a kind soul please help me w/ a walk-through...?

im kinda hopless at the moment.

thank you in advance... take care.

Make backups, compare files using a merging software, http://www.winmerge.org, compare your old files with your new files.

Or use the over ride system so you can keep track of what you edited and added to your site.

These are the only ways to get around without overwriting.

Actually if you made a lot of customizations you may be better off just starting from scratch so....this isn't necessarily a bad thing, though, as you can improve on stuff you didn't like from your old site. It just took me 3 months (ok I wasn't working on it non-stop) to upgrade a site I had made with a lot of customizations....quite the pain but I had to bite the bullet.
