Florida County Taxes

I've read through a few threads, but most seem to relate to much earlier versions of Zen-Cart. My store is located in FL. Customers purchasing prodcuts within FL will have sales tax applied to their purchases. The tax rate is based upon a base rate of 6% plus a surtax that each individual county has added. (i.e. Hendry County adds 1% surtax = 7% total sales tax.) Is there a mod or a way for the cutomer to pick their county to choose the appropriate tax rate for their items in newer versions of ZenCart? A point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

I'm looking for the same answer, was it ever answered? I have everything ready to go except taxes.

The solutions posted in the New York Sales Tax thread apply equally to Florida.

Thanks for your reply Glen, but after reading most of that thread, I can't really figure out what the solution IS!

Off the top of my head, it was to remove the "state" zone for your home state, and make a new zone like "Your_state Each_county" for each county or other sales tax zone. Then follow the rest of the directions that person gives to assign geo zones to tax classes. Fabienne's comments may also help illuminate that process.

The one that seems to be like your recollection says:

[1] Create a zone for each of the counties/cites
[2] Create tax zones for each tax rate
[3] Create a zone definition for each tax zone
[4] Remove your state and replace it with your state and your county.

I understand all but #2. Can you help me understand what he means with this one?
