Getting Rid of ecommerce - order information as a simple email submission

Hi Board,

I have set up a Zen Cart store and was in the process of integrating a shipping module when I realized that an automated shipping solution would not work.

Due to the weight and size of products being sold, there really is no way to automate transactions. Instead, it turns out that orders will need to be reviewed manually, and prices and shipping arrangements made on a case by case basis.

As such, I am wondering how I can do this:

  • Continue to use the Zen catalogue, currency convereter, and main shopping cart features
  • Turn the "Go to Checkout" button into something that would send a simple email with order info.

Any ideas on how to go low tect and strip away frunctionality would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

would using the 'check\money order' do the trick for you?

Rather than ripping the system apart, wouldn't it be better to mark all of the products as "virtual" - you skip the shipping step that way. Then modify the check/money order payment module to read "Send me a shipping quote", Then you have the full order with the customer information and you can contact them to arrange the shipping and get their payment info.

Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.

Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.
