driving me nuts...out of stock

hi all,

before you get annoyed at me, ive spent the last 2 days reading the forums here and trying fixes and combos to achieve what i am trying...so i have searched and searched.

i cannot get it to work though.

i have tried all the config and product listing settings and so forth etc.

i , for the life of me, cant work out how to simply (i think it should be a simple toggle) list an item as out of stock.

i use my site as showcase with prices. so no shipping, no payment, not even user accounts.

i simply want to show an item, then it's price, and if it is in stock or not, and even better would be est arrival date if out of stock.

dont need qty and so on...dont need contact us, call for price either...

is there a way to do this?

it may just be able to salvage some level of sanity left in me....

Tim

Re: driving me nuts...out of stock

thanks misty, however mine still does not work for some reason.

nothing happens when i select add to cart or out of stock....

i can set my qty as zero....if i choose to not display qty then this defaults to 1.

if i choose to display qty it shows 0, but doesnt show out of stock image.

can someone please have a look?

i have it as a normal store now to just check things....could it be that it would only show if you are logged in? (i havent ever tried that because i dont want people to have to log in).

thanks so much for helping me.

still going nuts though...

Re: driving me nuts...out of stock

It looks like you either have Customer Details setup to Create an account to shop or Customer must be approved to shop ...

You have in the Product Listings the Quantity displaying ...

Either turn that off by setting it to 0 or you will need to customize the:
/includes/modules/products_listing.php to change the products_quantity to Out of Stock when <= 0

You need in the Stock settings that stock is being tracked and that when stock is <= 0 it shows as Sold Out rather than the Add to Cart buttons ...

Re: driving me nuts...out of stock

hi linda,

thanks for the reply.

you can probably guess why im going nuts as ive tried those fixes and other than i might not be editing the product_listing.php file right, ive setup the store via admin with those settings over and over, and tried many more also.

still no joy.

perhaps i can give you access to my site for a look see?

it's holding me back from publishing the site proper to our direct .com address.

looking forward to a reply. anyone else also perhaps?

Cheers,

tim

This is starting to sound like the only option ... or shoot you ... and since I purport to be non-violent ... I'd recommend you drop me access to your Admin URL, login and password so I don't have to go back on that ...

Re: driving me nuts...out of stock

So far it is looking like a template issue ... unfortunately in the template_default gang ...

Product Free Shipping behaves nicely ... :smartass:

Product General does not ...

But we will see what the next round of fun things to try out before the FTP compare of original code vs server code ...

Most likely it will be the case of old code or a template file that has lost its mind ... :lamo:
