Unable to Change Download Times Expire

I am allowing my customers an unlimited amount of time in which to download their files, but only two chances to download. I have my defaults in Config->Attribute Settings set to "0" for # of days and "2" for number of time. I have even set this in the product attributes for each product. However, after checkout, I get an "Unlimited" time and "---***---" (unlimited?) amount of remaining downloads. Anyone know what the deal might be?

Are you wanting this to also be blocked based on attempts? Meaning while they can wait forever to try for the downloads because of the 0 days ... they only get 2 chances to do so ...

That's correct... I would like the customer to have an unlimiter amount of time in which to download, but they can only download the product twice. Is this not feasible at the moment? Do you have any suggestions?

Admin > Catalog > Downloads Manager > [choose download] > "Edit" button

Look for "Max Days" and "Max Downloads" in the sidebox.

I've tried that and it still doesn't seem to work. It seems like what Linda is saying is that if there is an unlimited amount of time to download then zencart automatically generates an unlimited amount of downloads. Does anyone else have this problem?

Then how about setting the max days to a ridiculously high number, like 999999?

I would just rather have it say unlimited under link expires than a whole date.

If all your downloads are set in this manner, you could hardcode that text into your template, bypassing the display date variable set when viewing a downloadable product.

Hey there, I searched this because I'm wanting to do the exact same thing but the end of this thread didn't seem quite resolved to me. Does this mean that limiting downloads based on attempts but NOT time isn't currently possible? Right now I want all of my products to allow 5 downloads for an unlimited amount of time.

Is the only solution to set the number of days high and then to hide that on the customer account page?

Seems so... I wound up just giving the customers 30 days to download. We haven't had any complaints yet.
