Percentage shipping based on weight?

I need to set up shipping on a per item basis, the shipping cost is different for different products. So, I've put the shipping cost in as the product weight. Now, I just need to set up a shipping module to charge 100% of the product weight as the shipping cost. I installed the percent shipping mod, but it is based on the product price. Is there any way to charge shipping as a percentage based on the product weight?

Re: Percentage shipping based on weight?

The Shipping Module Per Unit perweightunit ... is designed where the products_weight is the exact shipping cost based on what you set the Unit rate to be ...

Might peek at this one ...

NOTE: be sure to adjust the Tare settings as that would alter the shipping cost as Tare is based on weight, and would be looking at the products_weight as weight vs your usage of it as a Shipping Cost ...

I thought there was a mod like that, but I looked in the old and new download section and can't find it :(

Re: Percentage shipping based on weight?

It is built into Zen Cart in the Modules ... Shipping ... just install it ... :smile:

NOTE: you should upgrade to v1.3.6 ... you have bugs in v1.3.5 that you do not want to deal with ... :unsure:

Re: Percentage shipping based on weight?

Hmmm was that built in recently? The client I am doing this for is an OLD version, 1.2.4. I am upgrading their store but they want this shipping thing done NOW because they currently have shipping costs built into their products but they can't do it that way anymore etc etc...I did install the per item mod in the shipping modules in the admin but it only worked by price...am I just missing something???

Re: Percentage shipping based on weight?

Lol, I will do it as soon as I finish this client's project I promise ;)

Do you think it would be hard for me to modify the percentage shipping mod to base it's value on the product weight instead of product price? I'll have to play around with it and see!

Re: Percentage shipping based on weight?

might be easier to grab v1.3.6 and get the perweightunit.php and change the line:

class perweightunit extends base {

To read:

class perweightunit {

And see if it will run without error in the Admin and Shop on your site ...

I think that is the only change you need for that to work ... but I haven't used that version in a long time ...

Worse case, delete it if it doesn't work ...
