Repositioning the "Welcome Guest..." message

I want to reposition the "Welcome Guest..." message on my home page. There is too much of a gap at the top and basically I want to move it further up the page. Can anyone advise on how I can achieve this?

You have an empty <h1> tag just above the welcome guest

If you delete this from tpl_index_deault.php that should move things up.
