Can I provide alternate descriptions of linked items?
Lets say I sell brake pads...
And I have a category of about 5000 part numbers (models) with pricing set on them, and very basic descriptions (Front brake pads, R4-S compound).
I have a way to create 10s of 1000s of categories for year/make/models of vehicles, and populate them with links to the master category already..that works just fine. In the end I end up with 250,000+ products.
Im redoing how my DB is setup, and I will want to stay with the master category of the model #s so that I can do salemaker's against pad types/etc.
But what I would like to do is offer in the category that the customer sees (http://www.speedtoys.biz/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=394_3582_3583_15571_15572) for example, to show something descriptive about the product, say "Porterfield Front R4-S brakes for a 2003 and up Acura TSX 2.4."
But if I create names or descriptions, it of course edits the main category data, which makes every other use of those part numbers (there could be 100s of matches depending on the model #) say its for an Acura....
Becase pricing changes once a year, Id rather not go away from the master category for everything, because it makes is dead easy to change pricing.
I could go away from a MC, but I would have to create 10s of 1000s of unique model #s to prevent dupes.
So in short..how can I make a linked product appear unique when the customer is shopping?
