How do I increase the length of the customer input fields?

I just installed a new copy of zen cart and everything went smoothly. However, when I try to do a test registration I am limited to how many characters I can input on the registration page. For example: E-mail only allows me 14 characters, First Name only allows 4 characters and Last Name only allows 5 characters.

I have reinstalled 2 or 3 times and still the same issue. I have also checked the database and it seems as the character lengths are set well over what I need.

Please help.

Re: How do I increase the length of the customer input fields?

I'm not sure if this is going to help you at all but I wanted to give it a shot.

In your Admin, put your cursor over Configuration, then go down to Minimum Values.
I have my settings at :
First Name 2
Nick Name 3
Last Name 2
Date of Birth 10
E-Mail Address 6
Street Address 5
Company 2
Post Code 4
City 3
State 2
Telephone Number 3
Password 5
Credit Card Owner Name 3
Credit Card Number 10
Credit Card CVV Number 3
Product Review Text 50
Best Sellers 1
Also Purchased Products 1

I probably should change some of mine, but I hope this helps :) I do know that when I type in the email address in my form it works, so maybe it'll work for you!

BrodieGirl,

(That is to set the minimum characters allowed in those fields, not the maximum.) nova, Have you checked in your database?

Re: How do I increase the length of the customer input fields?

I checked the database and they are all set for more than what I need but for some reason they are not transferring across.

I am completely stumped. I have gone through every page I could think of checking for errors.

I hope someone else has had this problem and fixed it.

Re: How do I increase the length of the customer input fields?

This is an error with your hosting site ... they have something misconfigured and it is not returning the right field lengths of the fields in the database ...

Re: How do I increase the length of the customer input fields?

What do I need to tell them to fix and is it something that they will fix? I don't know much about that side of it so any help would be great.

Re: How do I increase the length of the customer input fields?

The problem is related to the mysql_field_len not returning properly from the database ...

Your host needs to fix this problem ...

I am afraid I forget the exact cause of this ...

Re: How do I increase the length of the customer input fields?

Does anyone else know a more specific cause for this. I can't get my hosting service to do anything about it.

I had oscommerce installed in the same database but I am no longer using it. Could there be a conflict there?

Any more help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: How do I increase the length of the customer input fields?

field length display that are truncated or shortened due to MySQL issues more than likely are related to #16 on this post ...

Speak to your hosting site to fix it ...
