Need help understanding which tables are updated once the transaction is successful

Can somone pls explain..how to determine if the transaction has been completed successfully?

Are there any database fields which get updated once a order has been processed either successfull or not. I am new to these payment module stuff.. want to know where is zencart database is the information stored after getting response from payment gateway/processor.

Check in these table
orders
orders_products
orders_total
There shold be an entry with the customer information
Also, information related to payment is stored in different tables
For eg. for paypal it is
paypal
