Safary, IE on mac problem

I noticed while checking my site on my friends mac that the main navigation background on top of the header, the one with the home and Log In links does not show correctly. To be more specific, the background color does not show as instructed in my stylesheet. It should be green, but shows white or transparent I guess. I wonder why this is? It is only doing this on a Mac. Ie and FireFox on a pc are showing correctly.

Here is what I have in my stylesheet.css:

#navMainWrapper, #navSuppWrapper, #navCatTabsWrapper {
margin: 0em;
background-color: #006633;

On a Mac it shows like I would put background-color:#000000;

Is there a tag that can be added that would fix my problem?

Re: Safary, IE on mac problem

I dont sure about this but two years ago i had the same problem.

I dont know now but at that moment i found out this.

mac colors are diferrentes that mean
You should work with the safe web color to ensure that the same color work.
in diferents plataforms

I solved that with a gif 1px x 1px with the color and used like background

Re: Safary, IE on mac problem

Well thank you for pointing this out. I use the same color for other header bars as well and they show correctly? The problem must be somewhere else. Anybody an other suggestion?

Re: Safary, IE on mac problem

I have nothing to offer, but... It looks fine on my Mac in both Safari and Firefox.

Re: Safary, IE on mac problem

Thank you for checking. Does the bar on top of my banner with the login show correctly? I checked on a pretty new mac, the one that has the whole thing inside the flat pane, no extra box. As you can see I am clueless on non PC machine.

Can you verify again if you see my top login?

Hi Yes,

I checked both links in your signature on my son's brand new iMac (that's the all-in-one you're describing) as well as in my 2 yr old 17" PowerBook.

http://www.artwax.com/wholesale/ has white Home & Login links on blue-ish background, while http://www.mydanilo.com/ has white links on green background.

Re: Safary, IE on mac problem

It looks fine from here on a Mac too (using FF) - what browser did you look at it with from your friend's Mac?

Re: Safary, IE on mac problem

Now that you mention it, when I first sat down and startd browsing some stuff, I used explorer. Later my friend walked in an said that exporer is not always working correctly and freezes from time to time. So maybe it is a ie mac problem. I will have to go over to him sometime and check it out. For now I am comforted that mac users in general will see my site correctly. Thanks for the help.

Re: Safary, IE on mac problem

IE on the Mac is really old (v 5.2) and hasn't been updated since about 2003, so it's very likely you will see all sorts of strange behaviour.

Give it a whizz on the Mac with FF or Safari and it should look fine :smile:
