can't seem to use paypal module, using ipn elsewhere, etc

When installing the paypal module, it asked me to enter a specific IPN url in my paypal account, and it also asked me to provide my primary paypal email address. However, I use the IPN for an unrelated website. I also needed to use a different email address. I called Paypal and the rep suggested I use Buy it Now buttons and handle each item separately, but that seems like it would discourage buying more than one item at a time. Is there another solution?

The PayPal IPN can be used for multiple sites ...

Zen Cart sends the proper URL to PayPal to return to ... providing the IPN is turned on at the PayPal site, this URL can be overridden by Zen Cart to use it ...

Oh boy, am I confused.

Where do I put the zen-cart IPN? I can't replace the other IPN in my paypal account, it's necessary for my other (non-zen) website. I don't see a place in the ZenCart module configuration for this, either. Also, my zen cart asks for my Primary paypal email address, but I thought we could use any paypal address?

I decided to add a product for 25 cents and try to place an order to see what would happen. I was forwarded to paypal to pay for the order, but the order did not go through. The payment processed, but there's no indication of what item was ordered on the paypal screen. There is no order recorded in my zen cart.

I'm running Zen cart 1.3.6 and do not have any modifcations installed.

OK, you need to make sure that auto return is turned on.,

as long as you have IPN and auto return turned on you dont have to change their settings

make sure that are using the PRIMARY paypal email address in your zen cart setup

I added my zencart auto-return to my paypal profile. I did not add my primary paypal, but it looks like the order came through via the auto-return. Now we're in business :)
