Upgraded ready to go live. Merging new data?

I upgraded from 1.3.0.2 to 136 in a temp directory and everything is working fine.

During the upgrade and testing I received a lot of new data in my original database. What is the best way to get it to my new database so I don't loose it on my new site. Im not sure of the differences in databases between the two Vs or in the way my php deals with existing data.

With my limited understanding of the details I see these as my options and am looking for some affirmation or a kick to the head.

Do I use myphp and export all the old data to a file and dump it into the new database? Will I have duplicate data or ???

Move Zen to my live dir, create a new database and run the upgrade install again?

Help!!!

Re: Upgraded ready to go live. Merging new data?

In theory ...

You backup your NEW site database and site ...

You put the LIVE site down for maintenance ...

You backup your LIVE site database and site ...

You empty the tables on the NEW site database ...

You load the LIVE site database into the NEW site database ...

You run the zc_install Database UPGRADE on the NEW site database ...

NOTE: this is now going to be your LIVE site database ...

You edit the 2 configure.php files on the NEW site to have the paths that your LIVE site has ... do NOT change the database as this is using the NEW LIVE site database already ...

You move the files from the LIVE site directory to /old_site

You move the files from the NEW site directory to your /LIVE site directory (which may be the root)

You test test test ...

If all is working ...

Take your LIVE site (which is now your NEW site files with the LIVE site database in the NEW site database that has been UPGRADED) and turn OFF the down for maintenance ...

You should then be good to go ...

NOTE: you can practice this up to the point of renaming the directories several times to get the hang of it ...

NOTE: any custom work to the database such as a new template should have been activated after the UPGRADE of the NEW database before the change ... any setting changes ... Payment, Shipping and Order Total modules are always a good idea to: Write down settings, Remove, Install and reconfigure each one ...

Read this about 12 times and you should be ready to try it ...

Don't forget to backup everything ... or you will be doomed ...

You load the LIVE site database into the NEW site database ...

How is this done?
Export data from the live db and import it to the new one?

Should I backup first :)
