Please Help Newbie w/few issues

Thank you for offering this spetacular program. I am currently using OSCommerce and decided since there are so many Paypal issues (and losing business) that I installed this cart. I am however having a few issues that I am hopeful to resolve here:

1. I can NOT get rid of that WARNING:Warning: I am able to write to the configuration This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file (read-only, CHMOD 644 or 444 are typical). SERIOUSLY I HAVE SET THE PERMISSION VIA FTP THRU MY SOFTWARE THEN FINALLY THRU FILE MANAGER ON THE SERVER SIDE - NO SUCCESS.

2. There is an image place holder that is right on top of where the header_bg.jpg is located that I can NOT get rid of.

3. This is the worst challenge I am having. I have created different categories with no problems however as soon as I add a product to the category (which inserts perfectly fine) when I try to view the CATEGORY where I just added a product I get a BLANK PAGE? This is extremely frustrating as I can not move forward with my transfer to using this shopping cart as the categories can not be viewed. Please note that you can view the categories that do NOT have any products in them??

Thanks for responding. My host is Blue Genesis. I have absolutely no hosting issues running OsCommerce on my server (only paypal issues). I understand why you were asking because my post might have been misleading I WAS ABLE TO CHANGE THE SETTINGS TO 444 BUT IT WAS NOT SUCCESSFUL IN REMOVING THE WARNING :)

Oh and here's another thing. When I added 2 products to a category... it now shows up.. NO BLANK PAGE??? So this is selective blank page issues regarding the categories... now even more frustrating.

I host with Blue Genesis also. Did you ever find a solution for the file permission probelm? If so could you post it I would like to get this resolved.

I did resolve this but not the traditional way. I had to edit a file to remove the error message from showing up. I'm not sure I would advise others to do so but I had to get my store up and running. If i didn't edit the file to FALSE then I would STILL be getting the error message. I don't know why the programmers can't fix this?

Thanks for the quick response. I think this cart is brilliant and want to use for my customer who have complicated requirements. I'm not sure I can get by the security issue with the workaound as you did. Any security issue would need to be resolved as I would be responsible if a change I made was used to evade the carts security system. I'll keep an eye out to see if something shows up.
