product sort not working on search

Hello everyone. I am having an issue with my product sort order... I have been making some changes recently in regards to the "All Products," "New Products," and "Featured Products." I have changed them so that it sorts by "Bestselling" and "Most Viewed" because they make more sense than the others for what I am selling.

I have also been working on a way to allow the categories to display products sorted by "bestselling" and "most viewed." However, I aborted that mission a while back (for now). But now my products won't sort correctly after making changes.

Can y'all give me a clue as to which files I might want to upload "fresh" to possibly get that sort back and working properly?

You can check it out at www . my libros . com. Try searching for something and then change the sort to 2d or something and see what it does.

Check if you made changes to the original header_php.php files in the:
/includes/modules/something_here/header_php.php

I did make changes to the advanced_search_result header file... but I have since reuploaded that file and it did not seem to help. Would there be any other header files that I may need to take a look at? I don't recall ever editing any other header files.

Check each:
/includes/modules/pages/products_new
/includes/modules/pages/products_all
/includes/modules/pages/featured_products

Both the header_php and main_template_vars.php
/includes/modules/pages/index

I have reupload the files from 1.3.6 for each of those and still no change... any other suggestions?

Click on a title in the headings ...

Peek in the URL ... what does sort=xxx

Put xxx in the Configuration ... Product Listing ...

Not quite sure I know what you are referring to. There is no "sort=2a" or anything similar that shows up in the URL at this point, and when I manually add it to the end, it does not change the sort order. Can you be more specific with where I should be clicking to see the sort=XXX?

How about a URL to what you think is not sorted right and you say what you want it sorted by? :smile:

:blush: OK, well if you use the search box in the header and search for: green

you will see the products that appear are sorted by the product ID... I need them sorted by the product name THEN BY the product description, etc... I currently have the "Display Product Listing Default Sort Order" set to 2a.

If you add a sort onto the end of the URL manually, it will not change the order no matter what you sort by...

You cannot sort on the description ... just the products_name or one of the main keys in the Product Listing settings ...

It only knows those keys ...

products_description is not a sortable key ...

Best that I can determined is something is not configured right in the:
/includes/modules/pages/advanced_search_result/header_php.php

The sort seems to work fine on a regular product_listing ...

Check and see if you have changed something in the order settings of the search files ...

I still can't get this thing to sort at all on the search page, even after replacing my hacked up code in the header_php file and the tpl files... Any other suggestions? I just don't get this one.
