Gift Certificate Attributes

Another newbie questions -
I have created a gift certificate product and used the attributes to allow the custoemr to pick different values. Problem is while all seems okay, when I attempt to purchase a gift certificate at any value the value never carries into the chopping cart. The product shows up in the shopping cart, along with the description, but the price always shows $0.00 What did I do wrong or what did I not do? Thanks in advance...
Best Regards

Re: Gift Certificate Attributes

Have an URL that we can peek at to see what is setup incorrectly?

NOTE: now is a great time to setup a /testing and a new database for /testing and install a clean, current Zen Cart from our download link at the top of your screen and load the demo data ...

There oodles of sample data and examples of how to setup products and types of arrangements by Categories, Products, Option Names, Option Values, Attributes, Defaults, etc. etc. etc. that can help you learn about all of the facinating features of Zen Cart ...

Re: Gift Certificate Attributes

Thanks for the quick response... It seems as though taking the time out to type up a query in the forum always leads me to find the answer to my question on my own shortly afterwards...

But I do have another rahter simply question... In using PayPal, step 2 in the checkout process gives the customer the selection of Paypal IPN and no mention of Credit Cards.

I have experienced problems with customers before not understanding that Paypal is a general credit card processor and general on-line merchant account.

What I am looking for is the file that contains the radio button and text for this custoemr selection so that I can credit card names and maybe logos as well so that the customer realizes instantly that this is the choice for credit card transactions.

any ideas what file this would be??? I have been doing a variety of searches looking for this string with no luck so far, which is strange in itself...

And yes, I have several installs of the software on different servers and different directories that I am using to poke around, as well as the fact that I constantly make backups of any live site that I am working on... but thanks for the excellent tip...

Re: Gift Certificate Attributes

PayPal will ask for that information on the PayPal site depending on how you have your account set up there ...

Re: Gift Certificate Attributes

You made a Product with a products_model starting with the word GIFT and have set the Product as a Product is Virtual YES ...

You then set the products_price to 0.00 and marked it as Product is Priced by Attributes YES ...

You then created a Option Name with an Option Type that is either a Radio Button or a Dropdown ...

You then added the Option Values for this Option Name ...

You then added the Attributes at different amounts to the Product and set set a DEFAULT Attribute so something is selected when the Product is added to the Cart ...

You did not make the mistake of setting the Option Name with an Option Type of READ ONLY ... correct?

Re: Gift Certificate Attributes

I am getting so completely frustrated with this. All the advice is GREAT regarding these gift certificates BUT I would like to know how the actual attributes are to be set up. I have tried EVERYTHING and I keep getting this error: "Attribute Option and Option Value Do NOT Match - Attribute was not added - Gift Options : $10.00"

A step by step tut of the actual attributes page would be appreciated - from the top to the bottom of the page. Thanx! :)

Re: Gift Certificate Attributes

Go to Catalog ... Option Name Manager ...

Create an Option Name, I use:
Name: Amount
Option Type: Dropdown
Click Insert ...

Go to Catalog ... Option Value Manager ...
Create the Option Values for this Option Name, I use:
Amount (from the dropdown)
$5.00 (this is text)
Sort Order: 5
Click Insert ...

Amount (from the dropdown)
$10.00 (this is text)
Sort Order: 10
Click Insert ...

Amount (from the dropdown)
$25.00 (this is text)
Sort Order: 25
Click Insert ...

etc. etc. etc.

Go to the Product for the Gift Certificate you want to add the Attributes ...
I then set the:
Product Price: 0.00
Priced by Attribute YES

Go to the Catalog ... Attributes Controller ...
Locate the Product for this Gift Certificate ...

Pick the Option Name: Amount and Option Value: $5.00
Prefix +
Price 5.00
Click Insert ...

Pick the Option Name: Amount and Option Value: $10.00
Prefix +
Price 10.00
Click Insert ...

Pick the Option Name: Amount and Option Value: $25.00
Prefix +
Price 25.00
Click Insert ...

etc. etc. etc.

When done, click the button to Update Sort Order and the values will now display in the default sort order that you set previously for these Option Values ...

Re: Gift Certificate Attributes

Hello Ajeh,

I have read your post above and followed it all step by step by step.

However, I am still getting no add to cart button or drop down menu in the actual gift certificate product listing.

Initially, I tried adding one product per gift voucher value, but this didn't work, so I am now trying to have just one gift voucher with different values (£5 - £250) selection by dropdown for the value, so:

I made a Product with a products model starting with the word GIFT and have set the Product as a "Virtual YES" and price 0.00. I then marked it as Priced by Attributes.

I have an option name "VALUE" with a Option Type Dropdown .... the option values I've then set to £5.00 - £250.00 in reasonable increments.

Then I added the Attributes at different amounts to the Product and set set a DEFAULT Attribute

I did not make the mistake of setting the Option Name with an Option Type of READ ONLY.

STILL, IT WILL NOT SHOW THE ADD TO CART OR DROP DOWN MENU IN THE PRODUCT VIEW

I've been on this for hours now and it's really starting to get annoying. Any help would be greatly appreciated.... Here are a couple of screenshots to show my setup:

Please, someone tell me what's wrong so I can move on with my life :-0

Re: Gift Certificate Attributes

What Product Type is this Product set to be?

Is there an URL that we could perhaps peek at for this?

Re: Gift Certificate Attributes

Hi,

Thanks for getting back... I've been pulling my hair out on this one.

It's a gift certificate. Placed in the Gift_Certificate category.

Virtual product, exactly as described in the Tutorial on how to set up gift certificates.

Re: Gift Certificate Attributes

If I do a View Source on that product, I see everything in the View Source ...

Switch to the Classic Template for a minute ... does it now show?

Re: Gift Certificate Attributes

I've added all the attribute +PRICES and switched to classic template.... In classic template the drop down menu is available, but the values inside are very strange:

When I switch back over to my new template, it doesn't show any add to cart or drop down menu at all.

Re: Gift Certificate Attributes

Looks like you have a number of out of date files ...

You really need to check your language files to see if they are current and check your database to see if it is current ...

Sounds like you did an upgrade and did not complete it properly ...

Re: Gift Certificate Attributes

I've only ever had the V1.3.8 version of Zen cart... I wonder which file could be causing this?

Re: Gift Certificate Attributes

As an example, searching in the Developers Tool Kit for:
ATTRIBUTES_PRICE_DELIMITER_PREFIX

Shows a list of files such as:

/includes/languages/english/product_info.php

Line #42 : define('ATTRIBUTES_PRICE_DELIMITER_PREFIX', ' ( ');
