Can this be done?

Ok...here is a tricky one.

Lets say i have a product (a box) that comes in 3 sizes, s-m-l. Also it has 3 colours black-red-white.

I have set the attributes up individually....and then added all 6 in 2 groups so the customer can select first their size then their preferred colour.

so my question is this.....

what happens if i have run out of m size red boxes?

can i mark just that with sold out?

Wonder if you can help me out with one more thing. Before I had it set so it didnt worry about checking stock and that an order would be aloowed regardless of stock quantity.....however now that i have to allow for out of stock items more so.....when i go in and set the product quantity for an item to say 1000.....it comes up sold out at checkout!

ok...i tested this and found that if i put a stock level individually into the attributes module it works fine.....

this is going to take forever to add quantities to all of the different attributes isnt it??? surely there is an easier way.....why wont it let me put a quantity into the main product description and let me make the adjustments in the attributes module to zero out only the combinations that are out of stock?

If you desire to track inventory by individual items than you must input stock individually. Your OP, asked for inventory by stock item...

it's way beyond my level but I was thinking that it would be good if when you were setting up the attributes you could add the stock level in at the same time....that would save double entry
