Items Disappearing from Categories/Products Search

Hi-

Forgive me if this has been answered somewhere before, I searched and couldn't find any similar cases.

For some reason, items have been disappearing from the search results on the admin side of our inventory. At first it seemed random, but now it seems that the earliest entered items are not showing up. If I search for items numbered under 800 or so, they won't show up in the search results. However, if I search from the public cart side, I can find these items.

Also, I can find these disappearing items if I go through the inventory item by item in the admin. I just can't find them via the search function.

We now have about 2200 items listed in our inventory. Does the search function only cover a certain amount of items?

Any idea about what's going on? This might not sound like a big problem but it's a pain to try to figure out if we've got an item already on the cart if we can't use the admin categories/products search function.

If you do a search in the Admin and are not finding the Products, how many are you finding and how many do you not see on a given search?

Example: searching for the word Test

Did you see 10 and expect to see 47 of them?

No, if I search for a common word I'll get 40 pages of results... just doesn't seem to include the earliest entries.

It's really weird to get an order for something, then search to see how many the cart says we still have, and it won't show up on the search!

The Admin search and Catalog search are 2 different things ...

Catalog is searching descriptions and meta tags ...

What field are you trying to search?

I'm talking about going into the Categories/Products Top section of the cart admin area and searching for product names.

Okay ... and when you get there ... you decide to search for "something" and to you, that "something" is ... what? :unsure:

products_name
products_model
categories_name

For example, say this is a products_name ...

If you were to do a search in phpMyAdmin on products table on the products_name field using the Like%...% ...

How many show up ...

Now doing a search on the same product name in the admin how many show up?

Now doing a search on the Catalog from Advanced Search and NOT checking the description, how many show up?
