Link Manager 3.0 Support Thread

ironcross:

I got a question. I just downloaded the 3.3.1 release and there are no directory folders. All the files are free floating. Is that normal? There's a lot of files and where do they all go?

I'm on a mac if that makes a difference. Thanks

inside the zip file you should see:

New_install (folder)
upgrade (folder

(inside these folders are several folders and files used to install or upgrade the mod.)

uninstall.txt (text file)
upgrade.txt (text file)
uninstall_links_manager.sql (sql file)
install.txt (text file)
readme.txt (txt file)

Re: Link Manager 3.0 Support Thread

I just downloaded the zip file for the 3rd time and the file structure is still the same. No folders, just lots of floating files. I'm using stuffit expander to decompress the zip file.

Re: Link Manager 3.0 Support Thread

Ahhh. Worked this time. Wonder why my previous downloads where without their designated folders. Really strange.

Re: Link Manager 3.0 Support Thread

Ok, I've installed your mod before Clyde but this is the first time I've actually had to add a banner for a client and put it to use.

I think I must be a moron or something....lol

  1. I have the submit links turned off in Admin, and it is gone from the sidebox, but the submit link button is still there on the link pages (2 places)

  2. I cannot for the life of me figure out what the heck the first link page is. I thought is was supposed to be the first page that perhaps a large image of the banner was displayed on.

All I keep getting on this page is a red x from a transparent gif in the images directory and that dang submit link button. The missing image (whatever it may be of) links to a second page with a tiny image of the banner with my description, and a clicks count way down at the far right end and a second submit link button.

I have read the instructions. Applied 2 patch files. Am running the latest download. Did the sql statements. Cleaned my glasses and re-read the docs. Ate some cake...then tried it again and had the same results only with a full tummy.

Where did I go wrong?

Explanation in PM

we've got to stop meeting like this!!

thank you Clyde!

btw I am not keeping secrets from anyone here, my clients site sells "adult items" and I did not feel right posting the link in public which is why I chose to privately pm it to Clyde and tell him about the site.

Re: Link Manager 3.0 Support Thread

I hope I'm in the right place..... I'm new to ZC (1.3.8a) so go easy on me.....

I've installed LinkManager (latest release) on a Linux/Apache2.x/php5.0.4 machine....

My problem is that when I click on "submit link" I see my company name / address, but no submit form... also, I created 2 extra test categories and added links into them via the admin interface, but they don't show up when they are clicked on either... I've looked in the logs and have found no errors coming out.... I'm puzzled..... could someone point me in the direction of where to look? I don't yet understand the ZC structure, so my code searching capabiliies is limited until I get the hang of it.

site in question: http://www.guns-knives-shirts.com

Thanks
Matt

I just checked it with IE 7 and FF (latest version) and the submit form is there for me and the test links you put in from admin also show. Did you fix it? If not, try clearing the cache in your browser and check again.

Re: Link Manager 3.0 Support Thread

Thanks for looking into it .... I was able to fix it.... I normally only need a chmod 755 to get things working, but out of desparation I chmod 777 the whole directory, and wholla!! it worked.... I'm still not sure of why the write permissions were needed to make a submit form display, but sometimes it's better not to ask.

Thanks again for looking into it

Matt

Re: Link Manager 3.0 Support Thread

Hi

I have a question with regard to markup validation errors due to links manager. Please see below;

Error Line 147, Column 36: XML Parsing Error: attributes construct error.

   <img src="images/Fashion.gif"alt="Fashion." title=" Fashion. " width="72"

Error Line 147, Column 36: XML Parsing Error: Couldn't find end of Start Tag img line 147.

   <img src="images/Fashion.gif"alt="Fashion." title=" Fashion. " width="72"

These are all due to links manager and although I have looked using my VERY limited PHP skills I cannot find the file which is causing these two errors to happen . Hope someone can help because the site otherwise is complient.

thanks

Rottie
