Site lost custom work and won't connect to store database...HELP

Hi,

I've been having a nightmare trying to upgrade a friend's site. I did not do the initial build

1. Went from 3.5 to 3.6 and checkout wasn't working.( Dec. 23)
2. Store owner needed to be back up
3. Removed 3.6 and reinstalled 3.5 ( last working version)
4. Reloaded the3.5 backup. The backup is not working properly - I lost all customization and site will not connect to the product database.
5. I’ve asked the ISP for the backups – no response yet.
6. The site is dead in the water
7. I’m frustrated and unsure what to do next. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated!!!
   

I am supposing that you did not make local backups first...

If the DB information is missing this is bad but it might be that the DB is intact but just not being connected to. If when upgrading you paid heed to the fact that Zen Cart detected that there was a previous install and you just need to upgrade the DB all should be OK if you overlooked this and installed then this would overrite the DB as explained in the install screen.

This could be problems with your host. I have zen cart on 3 sites with 3 different hosted servers.

I am in the process of transfering one of the sites because the Host and it's database is timing out and I only get partial content. Ie, stylesheet not downloading, site not found and all kinds of wired things.

I ran my meta tag through http://www.scrubtheweb.com and yes, it was server side.

BTW, My Host keeps saying everything is OK on their side.......... Well, it isn't so I am packing up and moving the site.
