Try renaming your admin back to 'admin' and see what happens ...

Re: Blazed and confused

HI,
I tried renaming the admin folder on the web server.
I also renamed the admin folder in both of the configure.php files.
When I try to access the admin through the browser it's still not working. It gives me the error:
ERROR: admin/includes/configure.php file not found. Suggest running zc_install/index.php?
Any other ideas?
Sorry, I'm getting worried I may have to reinstall.
Thanks.

Re: Blazed and confused

I also renamed the admin folder in both of the configure.php files.

That's not right. There is no reference to the Admin section within the main config file.

In an earlier post, you also posted something which is not correct; or perhaps a typo when you were doing the post?

**Actual Information

Read DIR_FS_SQL_CACHE from configure.php: /home/user/public_html/cache
Found SESSION_WRITE_DIRECTORY in database: /home/ueser/public_html/cache**

The learning is in the doing.

Re: Blazed and confused

Hi Rob,
Sorry I did make a typo when I referred to user in a previous post.
I also looked an there is no reference to admin in the main configure.php file.
I was able to access my admin before moving zencart from a subdirectory up to the root. Now I'm not able to access the admin site through the browser. Although the site seems to be functioning fine. I'm hoping I've modified the admin/includes/configure.php file correctly but it appears something is still incorrect.
Here is what the file currently reads:
(I've replaced the account name with the word user and the actual admin folder name is replaced with the word admin)

<?php // /** * * @package Configuration Settings * @copyright Copyright 2003-2006 Zen Cart Development Team * @copyright Portions Copyright 2003 osCommerce * @license <http://www.zen-cart.com/license/2_0.txt> GNU Public License V2.0 */ /*************** NOTE: This file is similar, but DIFFERENT from the "store" version of configure.php. ***********/ /*************** The 2 files should be kept separate and not used to overwrite each other. ***********/ // Define the webserver and path parameters // Main webserver: eg, <http://localhost> - should not be empty for productive servers // HTTP_SERVER is your Main webserver: eg, <http://www.yourdomain.com> // HTTPS_SERVER is your Secure webserver: eg, <https://www.yourdomain.com> // HTTP_CATALOG_SERVER is your Main webserver: eg, <http://www.yourdomain.com> // HTTPS_CATALOG_SERVER is your Secure webserver: eg, <https://www.yourdomain.com> /* * URLs for your site will be built via: * HTTP_SERVER plus DIR_WS_ADMIN or * HTTPS_SERVER plus DIR_WS_HTTPS_ADMIN or * HTTP_SERVER plus DIR_WS_CATALOG or * HTTPS_SERVER plus DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG * ...depending on your system configuration settings */ define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://www.domainname.com'); define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://www.domainname.com'); define('HTTP_CATALOG_SERVER', 'http://www.domainname.com'); define('HTTPS_CATALOG_SERVER', 'https://www.domainname.com'); // Use secure webserver for catalog module and/or admin areas? define('ENABLE_SSL_CATALOG', 'true'); define('ENABLE_SSL_ADMIN', 'true'); // NOTE: be sure to leave the trailing '/' at the end of these lines if you make changes! // * DIR_WS_* = Webserver directories (virtual/URL) // these paths are relative to top of your webspace ... We recommend using the "cache" folder inside the Zen Cart folder // ie: /path/to/your/webspace/public_html/zen/cache -- leave no trailing slash define('SQL_CACHE_METHOD', 'database'); define('DIR_FS_SQL_CACHE', '/home/username/cache'); ?>

I've also run the fix_cache_key.php. And that seems to be configured correctly.

Any advise you can give would be really appreciated. I'm hoping it's an easy fix, but I've run out of ideas on what else to do.
Thanks!

Re: Blazed and confused

Two things of interest in the file you posted.

Do you have a Dedicated SSL Cert and is it made out to 'www.yourdomain.com'?

This line is incorrect:
define('DIR_FS_SQL_CACHE', '/home/username/cache');
?>

Should be:
define('DIR_FS_SQL_CACHE', '/home/username/public_html/cache');
?>

The learning is in the doing.

Re: Blazed and confused

I just decided to reinstall. It was actually faster just to save my template and reinstall. Thank goodness I hadn't added all the products. I couldn't figure it out why the admin wouldn't work. But thanks for your help! :D

Re: Blazed and confused

Let's say you renamed your admin folder fred (just for the example). Check the values in red (color selected by me) in fred/includes/configure.php. If it says /admin/ instead of /fred/ that's your problem.

// NOTE: be sure to leave the trailing '/' at the end of these lines if you make changes!
// * DIR_WS_* = Webserver directories (virtual/URL)
  // these paths are relative to top of your webspace ... (ie: under the public_html or httpdocs folder)
  define('DIR_WS_ADMIN', '/fred/');
  define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', '/');
  define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_ADMIN', '/fred/');
  define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/');
