New to Zen - 3 questions please help!

Hi everyone this is my first time posting and I am a complete novice at using zen so hope what I write is clear.

I have 3 questions arising from a visit to my local e-biz centre who are trying to help me improve my new site (www.aurelieandrose.co.uk). What follows are the queries they have raised (must admit I do not fully understand the jargon so please be gentle with me):

1. Can zencart generate thumbnails using the PHP GD Library from a larger source image? Currently the original source image is being used for the thumbnails which is slow to load.

2. Can the URL be rewritten to be more search engine friendly ie is there a plugin equivalent to the HT access mod-rewrite facility?

3. Is there an add-on module to allow the creation of a links directory page?
