Manufacturers

I'm not sure how the manufacturer info works. Between two websites, I have 4 or 5 different manufacturers I work with. One is the caster who makes the majority of my items for me. The second is a custom jeweler who helps with other items. Then there's someone who I wholesale her line from, and a few other manufacturers of chains and such.

It would help me to keep track (for my own ordering purposes) who makes what and who I need to contact to order what) but I don't want to list the manufacturer info for the customer to see. In fact most of my suppliers don't WANT to be contacted by retail customers.

How exactly does this work?

Re: Manufacturers

I found where to do this on the configuration dropdown. However it asks if I want to show manufacturers and then gives a text field. I've tried writing in "no" and "none" to no avail.

Re: Manufacturers

You can disable the display of manufacturers in the front end through the admin... Is this what you are seeking??

Re: Manufacturers

Precisely - I found out WHERE to do it but not HOW to do it - I get a text box which I believe originally had a 0 in it. I tried changing that to "no" "none" "1" etc. I'm not sure what value needs to be in there to make it off.

Re: Manufacturers

I do not know and you did not specify where this text box is???

But enter the mfg info for your tracking and for the front end there are more than one...

  1. admin > catalog > product types > at the right "edit layout" > Show Manufacturer > set to "0"

  2. Admin > tools > layoutbox controller > turn off the manufacturer side box

  3. admin > config > all listing > Display Product Manufacturer Name > set to "0"

and up the list for each display

Then the mfg info is not on the front end but available to you in the back end
