i am pretty new to this, but my concern is i will initially need to upload my products. does this support database imports and exports for comma (.csv), tab

If you know the structure and requirements for the tables in Zen Cart you can do this method of product upload....I would create a test product in the normal way and then look at the tables for the required entries and keys as this is not just a matter of uploading a set of products. They must be entered and linked correctly in the DB to function properly.

That being said, there is no native facility for doing this built into Zen Cart. There are tools available to accomplish this I use NaviCat and there is easypopulate available that is more Zen Cart specific.
