Configure handling fee on per box basis

I am using Zone Rates for my Shipping Modules. However, the handling fee is only added once in the Shipping Costs despite the number of boxes needed for shipment. Is there anyway that I could add in the handling fees on per box basis.

You would need to customize:
/includes/modules/shipping/zones.php

And change the case statement for weight:

        	  case (MODULE_SHIPPING_ZONES_METHOD == 'Weight'):
              // charge per box when done by Price
              $shipping_cost = ($shipping * $shipping_num_boxes) + constant('MODULE_SHIPPING_ZONES_HANDLING_' . $dest_zone);
              break;

Thanks for replying to my earlier post on handling fee. May I know where to look for the file on the formula for computing "number of boxes".

I am testing how zen-cart compute shipping costs. It seems that when total item weight exceed maximum shipping weight, "number of boxes" is computed in such a way that just to keep each box under the **maximum shipping weight **limit, disregarding the maximum weight allowed for per box.
Eg: Max shipping weight=10, Total item weight=11, Number of boxes=2, Shipping weight per box=5.50. Instead of shipping weight per box=10+1.

This affects the computation of shipping costs reflected to the customers.

Henceforth, I am thinking of customising the relevant php file to change the number of boxes formula. Can you tell me where is it located?

You don't need to alter the code to compute the boxes so much as set the settings in the Configuration ... Shipping/Packaging ...

Set how large a box can be and the number of boxes will be computed for you ...

NOTE: the Tare on small to medium and large boxes will be computed in this weight unless you set them to 0:0

Then to alter the way handling is computed in the zones.php you could use:

        	  case (MODULE_SHIPPING_ZONES_METHOD == 'Weight'):
              // charge per box when done by Price
              $shipping_cost = ($shipping * $shipping_num_boxes) + ((constant('MODULE_SHIPPING_ZONES_HANDLING_' . $dest_zone)) * $shipping_num_boxes);
              break;

So that each box will have its own Handling Charge added based on the setting in the Modules ... Shipping ... Zones ...
