How to Set Different Shipping Price for Different Items

How do I use Zen Cart to set different shipping prices for different options?

For example

Product 1 - Gift Basket A - UPS Overnight $20 - UPS 2 Day Air $10 - UPS Ground $5

Product 2 - Gift Basket B - UPS Overnight $40 - UPS 2 Day Air $15 - UPS Ground $8

...etc

Re: How to Set Different Shipping Price for Different Items

Gift Basket A Overnight $20

Gift Basket B 2 Day $15

Shipping total $35.

What is the problem?

I am just curious if there is a way to choose a shipping option per item, with each item having it's own custom pricing.

Re: How to Set Different Shipping Price for Different Items

Since you have multiple items with multiple shipping options your best bet is to assign each a weight that translates into it's shipping cost. See the perweightunit module. You would then clone the module for the second and third options.

Re: How to Set Different Shipping Price for Different Items

Sounds like a great idea -- Now, how do I clone the module?

I see where it is located, how do I duplicate for the 2 other options?

Re: How to Set Different Shipping Price for Different Items

The problem that I see is there is not a smooth transition between the 3 shipping types based on your product shipping ...

The perweightunit uses the products_weight * unit cost ...

But you have products that are not moving between the 3 shipping costs on a percentage basis ...

If things could be set in a proportional method for the 3 shipping types where unit cost was

Ground unit cost .25
2 day unit cost .5
Overnight unit cost 1.00

Then you could set the products_weight on a Product to work with these values:
Product A 20.00 = $20 $10 $5
Product B 40.00 = $40 $20 $10

That would work via cloning the existing Per Unit perweightunit.php shipping module ...
