Stuck On The Third Step Of Installation

Hi guyz. I desperately need your help. I am on the third step of the installation. Where the system inspection takes place. The problem is that when I get to that step it doesnt do anything. Its just stuck on a blank page, like it cant load the page. This is the actual link to the step I am stuck at.

Your server has safe mode = on.

Try putting this in your .htaccess file in your document root:

php_flag safe_mode off

(You will also need to set the permissions on your two configure.php files so they are writable - but that isn't stopping the installer getting to the system inspection page)

I have the same problem & have tried the .htaccess solution above which does not work for me. Is there another way to get this to work?
