Selecting Shipping Methods with free shipping

Is it possible to have the customer select a shipping methods when free shipping is on?

For example I have a store pickup and delivery options and I'd like the customer to be able to choose between them even if it's free shipping.....?

Couldn't find an option for it, nor did I find anything with search ... Please advise :)

Re: Selecting Shipping Methods with free shipping

Or you could of used the built in Free Shipping Options freeoptions which runs with all of the other Shipping modules ...

Free Shipping freeshipper only runs when the Shipping is Free for things like 0 weight is Free shipping or Products are Always Free Shipping ... and when it runs none of the other Shipping Modules run ... and when other shipping modules run, the Free Shipping freeshipper does not run ...

Re: Selecting Shipping Methods with free shipping

Actually that is not the intention. I tried to do it also but I dont know how.

The idea is any order above $30 is free delivery on my site. But some people like to drop by to collect even if we give free delivery. Or they want it by post only. Once the free shipping kick in when the order is more than $30, the customer dont have a choice at all.

Re: Selecting Shipping Methods with free shipping

Use the Free Shipping Options freeoptions for the Free shipping on orders over $30.00 ...

Install the Store Pick Up storepickup for those that want to drop by ...

Run your other regular shipping modules such as USPS or UPS or whatever for those who want to get the order faster by paying more for shipping ...

Now all are happy ...

Re: Selecting Shipping Methods with free shipping

Ajeh,

I couldn't help but post to this thread. Perhaps you could help me determin a solution to a delima I am having with shipping.

I am trying to provide the buyer with the option to choose the type of shipping i.e. UPS ground FED EX air etc. What I don't want is the charge them for shipping at time of purchase. Actually, they are not purchasing at all. We simply recieve the order, make the product and then ship it out to them. Knowing when and how they would like it shipped would be nice i.e. next day 2 day ground. Perhaps I don't use FED EX Branding or UPS Branding rather could you provide me with a solution so that I would allow the buyer to choose from a selection of radio buttons for different typs of delivery times i.e. next day over night 2 day ground. Obviously this information would be attached to the order that goes to the store so they would know how soon the order needs to be shipped.

Just an fyi, we don't charge by credit card, we send a bill via snail mail, this is when we would add on the shipping cost & we would have language on the shipping page that explains shipping added at time of shipping.

Care to take a stab at this one?

Re: Selecting Shipping Methods with free shipping

You could clone Flat Rate flat ... and set the different types up ...

Then customize further so that it does not show as $0.00 shipping ... but I'd have to check a few things as usually shipping is a dollar amount or $0.00 for Free ...

The display could be altered for something like To be quoted later ... or what have you ...

Re: Selecting Shipping Methods with free shipping

I installed the freeoptions shipping module because I want to offer free shipping when my customers spend $100 along with expedited UPS and USPS shipping options. When enabled, the UPS rates show, but there is no option for free shipping. I know I am missing something simple, but I can't seem to figure it out. I have the settings for freeoptions set to Total >= 100 and I have restricted it to the 48 US states. When I test it, I put $100 worth of items in the cart and select north carolina. The option still does not show, can anyone help?

Re: Selecting Shipping Methods with free shipping

Turn off the zone ... does it work?

Try another US address in the 48 states ... does it work?

Re: Selecting Shipping Methods with free shipping

No, it does not work using addresses in other states or by turning off the zone restrictions. I have freeoptions activated without restrictions you can see it yourself.

Test Site

There is an option under the order total modules that will give me a free shipping option, but it will not allow the user to select any other shipping methods.

thanks you for your help,
Matt

Linda, if i was to clone the flat rate, what steps would i have to take so that the info was treated the same way as the original option. e.g inputing this into the databae, sending the info in the confirmation email. And how would I hide the pricing?

Thanks,

Re: Selecting Shipping Methods with free shipping

oh yeah, and one more tricky question, I am trying to get all the radio buttons inside the square box. I don't want to have 6 square boxes for shipping method. e.g the css box that is drawn on the shipping page and inside is the radio button.

Thanks,

Re: Selecting Shipping Methods with free shipping

I have tried everything I know to do to get the shipping module to work. I have even clicked the uninstall button on the User Interface. Is there a way I can reload the module or reinstall it? I really want it to work.

Re: Selecting Shipping Methods with free shipping

mbheald ...

This could just be a configuration issue on how you are using things ...

If you could PM me the specifics and an access to your Zen Cart Admin ... I can take a peek and see what you might have set incorrectly ...

Re: Selecting Shipping Methods with free shipping

The solution when using the Free Shipping Options freeoptions is to be careful on how you define what "Free Shipping" really is ...

= 100.00
<= 0

Is logically incorrect ...

Leave the <= blank as in nothing in the box ... and it works great on orders over $100.00 ...
