Please help stupid with currency problem

Hi folks,

Sorry to bother you all, but I am having a problem with the currency. I want it to be UK pounds. I thought everything was great, and I added a product. When I viewed in the preview it was pounds but when I looked on the front page it was dollars. So I looked at some past threads and the FAQs on here, and tried changing the switch to default currency, and tried changing localisation to UK. I then deleted all the other currencies such as US and CAD as I do not need them. However, now everything shows up as 0 with no symbol. In the preview it still shows up as pounds however.

How do I fix this?

Also, while I'm here, where do I edit: Congratulations! You have successfully installed your Zen Cart™ E-Commerce Solution.

Thanks a million,

Kris

Re: Please help stupid with currency problem

Usually the cause of prices all showing as 0 is that you don't have a "default" currency properly configured. You said all you have is GBP ... is it also set to be default ?

You might also need to edit the currency choice in your customized english.php file -- that's if you have enabled the switch under Admin->Configuration->My Store->Switch To Default Language Currency from false to true.

Re: Please help stupid with currency problem

Hi,

Yep GBP is set to default.

I have tried to change it from false to true and back again in switch to default language currency to no avail. I am using a variation of the wallet template.

What would I need to change in my english.php file?

Thanks,

Kris

Re: Please help stupid with currency problem

What happens if you append &currency=GBP to the URL of the page you're testing on ?
It's possible that your browser is remembering a different currency from before you deleted the others, and that forcing it like this may provide relief.

What is your URL?

Re: Please help stupid with currency problem

Hi Dr Byte,

When append the suggested it displays the correct currency. But it doesnt seem to stay, if I go back into it without that, its back to 0.

The URL is http://www.trophycentreaberdeen.co.uk/zen

Thanks,

Kris

Re: Please help stupid with currency problem

That strongly suggests that your default currency isn't being triggered properly.

Did editing the default-language-currency in your english.php file make any difference?

Re: Please help stupid with currency problem

Thanks DrByte, I think thats it sorted. I edited the Currency in the english.php file.

Would I change the date format in there also?

Thanks,
Kris

Re: Please help stupid with currency problem

Hi there,

I got exactly the same trouble, I also added &currency=GBP to the url and it worked, but got the same problem once taken away.

As editing that .php seems to be the answer, can somebody explain how and where to do this.

Thanks

Lee

Re: Please help stupid with currency problem

Hi,

Found it and changed it to GBP...

Works fine now, seems strange that it doesnt change it over once default GBP is selcted.

But it works now, so never mind.
